HP 1320

Of these features the automatic 2-sided printing is a key selling point which works well. Two-sided printing saves money and resources, virtually doubles your input capacity, and makes paperwork more manageable. The quick startup is also popular with users as there is no frustrating wait for the first page to print. Print quality is good and the HP 1320 is economical to run (it is easy to get good third party toner cartridges).

So what is not to like? Well some users struggled with the manual feed, particularly with envelopes but there is guidance available on line on how to do this. The main issue is Windows 7 support as users have struggled to get duplex printing working under Windows 7. It is possible but may need a bit of tweeking see relevant post in the  HP Support Forum.

The HP 1320 can be summarised as follows:

Pros:

  1. Reliable & well made
  2. Good Print Quality
  3. Fast startup and printing
  4. Economical to run
  5. Auto Duplexing

Cons:

  1. Some issues with manual feed
  2. Windows 7 support for duplex printing

In summary this is a great little workhorse printer if you don't need color. It has been around a while and there is a market in reconditioned units which is worth investigating. If you are looking for a current duplex laser printer you might consider the HP LaserJet P4014dn.
